Choosing your unit
What capacity do I need for my room?
As a rough rule, allow about 100 W of cooling per square metre, for a room of normal height. So 9,000 BTU covers rooms up to about 20 m², 12,000 BTU up to about 30 m², 18,000 BTU up to about 45 m², and 24,000 BTU up to about 60 m². Rooms with large south-facing windows, attic rooms and kitchens need more capacity.
What does “inverter” mean?
An inverter unit does not switch the compressor on and off; it varies its speed instead. It holds the temperature more steadily, starts up less often and uses less energy. Every Yamato unit in the residential range is an inverter.
What do SEER and SCOP mean?
They are seasonal efficiency ratings: SEER for cooling, SCOP for heating. The higher the figure, the lower the consumption. For example, the Optimum YW12T2n has a SEER of 6.10 and a SCOP of 4.00 — that is A++ efficiency for cooling and A+ for heating.
What is the difference between the Yamato ranges?
The ranges differ in design, features and noise level, not in build quality. Open the page of each range under Yamato products and compare: you will find the available capacities, the features and the full specifications there.
Does the unit heat in winter too?
Yes. The residential models heat down to -20°C outdoor temperature and have intelligent defrosting, which runs only when it is needed. At very low temperatures the output drops, as it does with any air-to-air heat pump.
Which refrigerant do the units use?
R32, a refrigerant with a lower environmental impact than the older R410A and with better efficiency.
Price, quotes and ordering
How much does a Yamato unit cost?
The final price depends on the model, the capacity and the shop or installer you buy from. Ask for a quote through the “Request a quote” form and you will get the price from the consultant for your area.
How do I request a quote?
here is a “Request a quote” button on every product page and on the cards in the catalogue. Press it, the product goes into your list, then you fill in your details. You can add several units to the same request.
Do I get the quote straight away?
Not automatically. Your request goes to the consultant who covers your county, and they contact you with the price and the availability. You receive a confirmation email with your request code.
Can I buy directly online?
Yes, from our partners. The Buy online page lists the authorised shops; the order, the payment and the delivery all happen on their own site, and each shop sets its own price and stock.
Does the quote include installation?
It can. Say in your request that you also want installation, and the consultant will put together a complete quote, unit plus installation. If you only need the installation, use “Request local installation”.
Do you also sell to companies or for large projects?
Yes. Yamato products has a Commercial category, and for projects with several units send your request through the quote form together with the details of the building; we will contact you with a suitable solution.
Installation
Who installs the unit?
Our authorised partners. On the “Request local installation” page you choose your county and receive by email the list of installers in your area, with a contact person and a phone number.
Which areas do you have installers in?
We have partners in all 41 counties and in Bucharest. In some counties the list is shorter; if we cannot find an available partner, we will contact you with a solution.
How much does installation cost?
The installation company sets the price, depending on the length of the pipe run, the access to the façade and any extra work needed. Ask for two or three estimates from the list you receive.
What is in the installation kit?
At every capacity, the unit comes with a kit included: 3 m of pipe, 4.3 m of cable, a condensate drain hose, insulating tape, insulation and sealing material for the hole in the wall. If the pipe run is longer, the extra materials are charged separately.
What should I prepare before the team arrives?
Decide where the indoor and outdoor units will go, clear the access to the wall, and make sure there is an earthed socket on that circuit. The installer will tell you the rest on site.
Can I install it myself?
We do not recommend it. Installation involves handling the refrigerant, vacuuming the system and checking it for leaks — which means the right tools and a licence. A poor installation leads to refrigerant loss, high consumption and a voided warranty.
How long does an installation take?
Usually half a day for one unit, if the pipe run is straightforward. Special situations, for example tall façades or concealed pipe runs, take longer.
Warranty
How long does the warranty last?
The period is the one stated in the warranty certificate you receive when you buy.
How do I activate the warranty?
Fill in the “Warranty activation” form on the site with your details and those of the unit, the seller and the installer, and attach three photos: the invoice, the completed warranty certificate and the indoor unit label. You will receive your request code by email.
Why do you ask for photos of the documents?
So that we can check quickly that the unit was bought from an authorised partner and installed correctly, without having to chase paperwork later, when you need service. The photos are emailed to the warranty team and are not stored on the site.
What voids the warranty?
Installation by an unauthorised company, unauthorised work on the unit, an improper power supply, lack of regular cleaning, and mechanical damage. The full conditions are in the warranty certificate.
I have lost my warranty certificate. What do I do?
Write to us through the contact form with the details of the unit and of the invoice, so that we can see what can be done in your case.
